Ancientness

I just read the following entry about the ancient Majapahit Empire, a sea-based empire in Southeast Asia which ruled parts of Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines from 1293 to 1500:

"The capital was named Majapahit, from maja (a fruit name) and pahit (or bitter)."

Filipinos, what is the Tagalog word for "bitter" again?

Interesting Random Facts

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics defines the "affluent" as people in households with more than $77,000 a year in pretax income.

That means that all I have to do is find a girl with an average income to come and live with me, and I'll be one of the affluent. Wahaha.

The average American spends more on entertainment (cable TV, Netflix, TiVo, high-speed internet, streaming/downloadable music, movies, magazines, live shows and sporting events) than on gasoline, household furnishings and clothing  - and nearly the same amount on dining out. People in the western part of the country spend about 20 percent more on entertainment than the national average. Why is that, do you think?

Love and Hate

Isn't it funny just how thin the line between love and hate really is...?

Try not to cross over it too many times...

It can get tiring!
